The Hotel El Comendador represents a colonial oasis in the heart of Old Havana, the historical centre of the capital of Cuba. This small, comfortable hotel, which shares some services of the nearby Hotel Valencia, is a typical building from the 18th century, that belonged to Don Pedro Regalado Pedroso and Zayas, who was the Comendador of the Order of Isabel la Católica. This hostal has become so famous that it's often overbooked.
The rooms are all very comfortable and they have climatized air, quite useful in the humid and warm Cuban nights almost all year round. The Hotel Comendador has been recently restored and it's now managed by Habaguanex, all its profits are aimed at the restoration project of the historical centre.
The Hotel El Comendador is an excellent place for withdrawal and meditation. Its sober decoration includes simple elements of the Renaissance style and a few original pieces of the Cuban artistic heritage.
